Obstetricians in Miami, Florida
Expecting a baby or thinking of becoming pregnant? Our Obstetricians are proud to help you deliver a new life into the world. We are pleased to offer our patients complete prenatal care, including post-partum visits, and we offer many services in the office, including routine vaccinations (TDaP, flu shots, Rhogam if needed), lab testing, ultrasound and genetic screening.
Drs. Joanna, Sarah, and Victoria Bedell perform vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and VBACs (vaginal births after cesarean sections), and because they share all of their pregnant patients, expectant moms develop a relationship with each doctor during pregnancy. We deliver babies at Baptist Hospital (8900 North Kendall Drive), located about three miles from our office.
We understand that pregnancy can be a potentially stressful and confusing time, and we will do everything in our power to put your mind at ease, so you can enjoy the journey into motherhood. We have included helpful information below, which will answer many questions, and help you to plan and prepare for this important stage in your baby’s development.
Please be sure to read our helpful guide, “Preparation & Expectations for Pregnancy,” to learn about normal pregnancy expectations. We have also included helpful information about breastfeeding, medications considered safe during pregnancy, and the Zika virus, which can be passed from a pregnant woman to her baby. We encourage you to download and keep these as a reference and to discuss any questions that may arise at your next appointment.
Complete Obstetric Care, from Prenatal Visits to Labor & Delivery
Prenatal visits are a vital part of any pregnancy. Regular prenatal visits allow us to detect any potential issues as early as possible during pregnancy, reducing the risk of complications later on. Good prenatal care promotes a healthier mother and baby throughout the pregnancy.
We are highly trained and experienced in all aspects of labor and delivery. We work to provide you the supportive care you need while giving birth, and we use the most advanced techniques to help you at every stage of your delivery. With privileges at Baptist Hospital, located near our office, we are able to respond quickly when you are ready to deliver.
Women who have already had a C-section, or cesarean delivery, may be able to deliver their child vaginally. Research has shown that as many as 90% of women who have had a C-section can give birth vaginally without serious complications. We offer VBACs to appropriate candidates, and we will advise patients about the potential risks and benefits of this procedure.
Roughly 2 to 3% of all pregnancies are twins. Carrying twins requires different medical pregnancy management than single births. We have the advanced expertise and knowledge to help you with your twin pregnancy and birth.
